Special Needs

San Clemente High School's goal is to ensure that children with special needs benefit from an education that includes quality learning opportunities with expectations that consider each child’s individual needs.  There is more information about the extensive program on the Learning Support page.

You can download the Student Support Unit Handbook, which is a handbook from the Catholic Schools Office on the partnership between parents and school in supporting students with special needs.

You can also download a file, produced by the Working Party for Children with Special Needs (a sub-committee of the Federation of Parents & Friends Associations) which acts as a guide for parents of children with special needs.

The Learning Support Centre has a policy of building strong relationships with outside agencies who assist in the support of students with disabilities. Organisations such as The Cerebral Palsy Support Group https://cerebralpalsygroup.com/support/special-education/, Hearing Australia https://www.hearing.com.au/Get-help/Find-a-hearing-centre/NSW/Newcastle , Tourettes Association https://tourette.org.au/ are organisations which can be of further assistance in supporting students with additional needs.
