This week Year 7 attended the Hunter Valley Zoo at Nulkaba to complement their work on The Living World in the Science program. Students gathered information on various species of animals and described the physical and behavioural characteristics that attributed to their survival.
A lot of laughs were had as the students had hands on experience of feeding kangaroos, goats and a young deer. At times, the goats were bold enough to try and eat their worksheets!
Additionally, students attended aqua and mini golf to participate in some Pos Ed activities. The Year 7 cohort were making new peer connections and actively participating in the two different activities within the golf complex. The favourite activity seemed to be the aqua golf where there were prizes on offer for hitting certain targets. Prizes ranged from more golf buckets, meal vouchers for local restaurants and free entry to the Hunter Valley Gardens.
Thank you to our Learning Support staff, Mrs Tolfree and the Science Faculty for their assistance on the day.
